Hey AJ,
Just found your podcast and I've been having a Quilting Pot podcast marathon for the past week. The dogs are loving their longer walks because it's about the only time I have to listen!

Hope your move went well, I just wanted to say thanks for all you do.

PS: We may be kindred spirits with our crafty ADD similarities - it's so nice to know that other people enjoy LOTS of different quilty/crafty stuff!

Hi AJ,
I came out of lurking at Frances's podcast so need to do the same at yours!

Was listening today when you mentioned liking the Quilt Pounce but that it didn't work on light fabrics. I assume you are using the white chalk pounce but did you know there is a blue chalk one as well? I don't think it irons off like the white chalk but the darker color will allow it to be used on light fabrics.

Maybe try making Jody a little handmade knitted or quilted puppy toy and see if that gets him to leave your stuff alone. Although, if he's anything like human children, what you give them to play with is not what they WANT to play with, LOL!!

Hi AJ, I just have to say I love listing to your podcast - I just got caught up on the past few issues and enjoy hearing about everything you are doing.

Love the diet idea... Although I don't know if I could be as strong as you. I too love gadgets. All my friends tease me about my habits but come to me to "borrower" things. :)

I have a suggestion about sewing Biased edges. Try using the "little wooden pressing tool" and then starch and press - not iron your pieces. I find that the little wooden tool doesn't keep a permanent stretch but it opens up your seam enough to get a good press without the stretch. Try it and let me know what you think.

Where are you moving to???

put wood across the bottom of the book shelf so he can not pull stuff off the shelf. do not make him toys from fabric as suggested by some doggy lovers... it teaches him chewing fabric stuff is okay.

New products by c&t publishing BETH WHEELER WASHABLE FOUNDATION ... DISAPPEARS with spritz of water. We used it in our guild product testing blotto challenge. Everybody loved it.

Paper pieced the blocks and then put them in a raffle. Then we loved it because blocks were consistent in size and there was no tearing out paper... I was bummed because I did not win the blocks. The lady who won brought the finished quilt top the next meeting.

Puppy ... put a piece of wood board across the bottom of the

Precision piecing: Harriet Hargraves suggests 60 wt/ 3 ply for strength and thinness.. very difficult to break.. holds up to piecing and FMQ. I use Precentia thread but I think Aurifil has similar thread.

Loved the podcast. d/l via podbean....not i Tunes.

Hi AJ

Thanks for mentioning me on the podcast; it made my morning!
Thanks for mentioning the thing about the ironing board not giving things the sharp crease; I had not thought about that. I'm usually fighting the dreaded pin-tucks in my blocks.
All the best.

Loved the episode, as usual. Can you talk more in a future episode about doing your binding completely by machine? I've done it a couple of times and really didn't like the results, so I'm clearly doing something wrong. Would love to hear about your method and your tips and hints!

Do not know who DEB TUCKER is, so you are teaching me something. Some of your tools purchases sound like something interesting. Hope you will give a follow up after you have time to trial them.

Hoping to see pictures of your purchases soon.

Sounds like you had fun with all the girls but I would like more details.

Hi! Loved your podcast! I listened to it this morning on my way to work. It was great to hear from you and I was beginning to worry. I love hearing about your quilting, knitting, weaving and puppies. I'm into the same crafts, have craft ADD and have a dog that just turned 2. I understand the chewing! Our dog loves to chew and was into digging. She went after the sprinkler system in the yard. She tore off every sprinkler head and then dug a hole or 2 and chewed off some of the line. We live in Las Vegas and sprinkler systems are important. We weren't as smart as she is because it took us awhile to figure out how to stop her of this. LOL. Anyway, glad you're ok. Good luck with the move!

You continue to amaze me! Even with a "more than" full-time job you are doing some incredible things.

I, too, am involved in the FMQ Challenge. One tip I have been having some success with is to practice the motion of fmq by moving a piece of paper under a pencil fixed in place from above (I affixed one to a crook necked lamp by my table.) It mimics the motion I need and has helped some.

Keep up the fantastic podcast. You are such a gem and a wonderful resource for me.

Enjoyed this episode very much. You kept me company for a bit while I am organizing my sewing room. I wanted to comment about the jerky movements in the FMQ that you said you're having trouble with. Like most crafters, I have a few machines and I have found that the cheapest one I own, which is a Brother XL-5340 has been the best for smooth FMQ. I have a singer that my mom gave me, and also a Kenmore that my husband gave me years ago. The kenmore does NOT like FMQ. She's a finicky lady. Something I figured out.. My brother does NOT have the ability to drop the feed dogs, and it's the best for FMQ so you may want to try with the feed dogs UP. The quilt still glides around fine, but it sort of regulates the stitch length and gives me more control. I use a FMQ foot and as old dad would say "go to town."

I wanted to comment about the jerky movements in the FMQ that you said you’re having trouble with. She’s a finicky lady. Something I figured out.. My brother does NOT have the ability to drop the feed dogs, and it’s the best for FMQ so you may want to try with the feed dogs UP. The quilt still glides around fine, but it sort of regulates the stitch length and gives me more control. I use a FMQ foot and as old dad would say “go to town.”
